Peek-a-vroom

Sunseeker, a long time fixture of the luxury pleasure craft market, and Caterham, the makers of lightweight, high-speed sports cars came together to present a truly unique offering at this year’s London International Boatshow. The result of this all-British union was the new Predator 108 S

Peek-a-vroom

The boat’s hidden surprise is a Caterham Seven ensconced in the aft tender garage. Where you might have expected to find a traditional inflatable outboard lurks an automobile with a higher power-to-weight ratio than anything else on the planet - and that includes the Bugatti Veyron! Therefore for the first time in the sub-superyacht category owners can enjoy the prospect of cruising by both land and sea. Trips to Antibes and Monaco just got that little bit more exciting. According to Ansar Ali, Catheram Cars’ managing director, “Our two companies have more in common than one might think, despite the disparity in vehicle size. … Surely any Sunseeker owner would relish the chance to match their experience on the waves with the ultimate drive on the roads.”

This alluring combination will set you back 10.5 million USD. No small sum, but the 33-metre Predator is an impressive machine and the addition of the one of the most iconic vehicles on the road makes this union one to praise. Then again you should be aware that this car may at first appear to be little more than a motorised roller skate, but that’s to miss the point entirely. Its minimalist approach merely underlines the raw engineering behind the machine. It’s a real man’s car, something in which you can enjoy some pure, unadulterated fun. It’s unrefined, it’s brash and it’ll act like a shot of pure adrenaline whenever you’re in the seat.

One possible problem with this particular toy is that though the Sunseeker has room for eight guests and four crewmembers, only the driver and one lucky guest can enjoy the Caterham at a time. For that reason we foresee some nasty arguments. Then again being able to hit over 200-km/h in the car will allow you to leave those naggers behind in their 63-km/h vessel.
