Eye Candy: Pomellato's Capri Collection And The Joy Of Everyday Jewellery

Eye Candy: Pomellato's Capri Collection And The Joy Of Everyday Jewellery

Pomellato has been cutting-edge ever since its establishment in 1967 by Pino Rabolini in Milan, when it began edging jewellery out of haute couture, as it were, and into the realm of prêt-a-porter, adding dazzle to everyday occasions, decreed that jewellery was to be desired not just as status symbol or for formal occasions, but could also be worn as changeably as clothes.

The Capri Collection is taking this credo to a whole new level. The rings transform rose gold, punctuating it with chrysoprase or tsavorite to create a look as exotic as it sounds, creating startling combinations of gold against rich greens and luscious red. Informal, certainly but far from brash. Stones are sizeable but still delicate, featuring the soft curves that have made Pomellato an internationally coveted brand. Ring-bands are thick and slim, bold and understated all at once. The largest rings in the collection feature gigantic gems in gentle colours: rose quartz and chalcedony.

Capri’s necklaces feature the signature colours of the collection with fine rose-gold chains. On offer are also chains with rock crystal, which come in tantalizing turquoise or chrysophase, much like the waters of the Blue Grotto. And as the winter draws down, short of hopping on a boat to Capri, the quickest route to that fabled isle may well be to slip on one of Pomellato’s exquisitely rocky rings.
