According to Sheikh Majed el Sabah, founder of the luxury Middle Eastern department stores, Villa Moda, “design was introducd to Dubai via Traffic.” This 650 square-metre showroom, library, shop and gallery, is home to the works of globally renowned designers as well as regional rookies. The handpicked items include furniture, accessories, clothes, bags, books, artwork and jewellery. Traffic boasts a one-stop-shop for a diverse client base, from personal shoppers to architectural and design firms.

Vanlian Gallery – Beirut

This Lebanese shop prides itself on offering affordable high quality furnishings in a wide range of designs. You may find furniture crafted by Vanlian’s personal woodworking factory, or items imported from international furniture makers such as Natuzzi, Kartell and Arketipo among others. The company boasts an 8,000 square-metre show building considered to be one of the largest in the Middle East. It features divisions such as home furniture, linen and beddings, office furniture, carpets and floorings and lighting.

Droog Design - Amsterdam

Set up in 1993, this Dutch enterprise based in Amsterdam seeks to revolutionise mundane household objects. Droog Design offers unique shapes and colours, and focuses on marrying functionality with cultural and technological icons. Its products, distributed around the world, vary widely from accessories to lighting and furniture, to decorative objects and even publications. After having opened up a branch in Tokyo, plans are currently underway to open a store in New York very soon.

Patrick Seguin - Paris

In 1989 the district of La Bastille in Paris became home to the design store Patrick Seguin. This 300 metre-squared gallery promotes the talents of French designers and architects whose work is considered to have played an essential part in shaping 20th century design and architectural history. Aram serves as an extensive design showroom that opened its doors almost forty years ago. The store’s founder, Zeev Aram, operates the family business, well-known for its classical furniture pieces. Zeev Aram is joined in the venture by his son Daniel and by his daughter, Ruth. Aram is a destination five-storey retailer offering a stunning range of furniture, lighting and accessories. Qubus - Prague

This design shop was founded in 2002 by designers Jakub Berdych and Maxim Velcovsky. The latter established the design studio and shop in the old town of Prague, where they now display and sell their permanent collection of ceramic and glass designs, as well as different collections by other designers. The studio focuses on high quality porcelain and borosilicate glass to produce intriguing, ironic and intelligent design, often using iconic pieces from Czechoslovakia's history, with an added modern twist.
