Online Innovation: Presenting Information With Clarity and Interactive Appeal

The challenge is to present information in a clear, user-friendly and interactive manner. In the past many sites have focused on posting reams of information and have ignored the vital issue of user-appeal. How many times have you been trawling for information, found the site you think will answer all your questions and then given up in frustration at the clunky design, or unfocused layout?

Zoom Creative of Riyadh is striving to bring functionality and design together. The design studio works within a number of fields, including web design, branding, print design, interior design and motion graphics to name but a few. The company recently won accolades at the Pan Arab Web Awards (PAWA) gala awards for its work in web design. A strong sense of functionality and design marks all of Zoom’s work.

“We place attention to detail in our projects. There’s not enough in the Middle East of a visual and functional approach, we try to have a design which is functional, we’re very much into the design concept,” says Fotis Gerakis, Executive Director of Zoom. This design approach jumps off the page when you visit one of their sites; a clear effort has been placed on modern, attractive design, allied to useful, accessible information.

All their sites are intuitive, taking advantage of the average users comfort at the keyboard. We’re all perfectly happy to navigate away, provided that the information is there, Zoom have recognized this. The sites are all easy to use, there’s no unpleasant sidebar, rather a series of interactive tiles jump off the screen. It’s a modern approach to web design, and one that today’s user will find straight forward and a pleasure to play around with. But its play with a clear goal, the information is there, where it should be. There’s no more hopeless clicking on the “Back” button as you hunt around for the info.

Zoom work with a variety of companies, creating promotional tools and the like, striving to create a clear, fresh, functional layout. However, design is Zoom’s forte “Our smaller projects tend to lean more toward the design aspects,” says Gerakis. He’s not wrong; Zoom’s smaller clients feature truly engaging sites, sites that are actually enjoyable to navigate. Yes, enjoyable.

Given that the Internet plays such a major role in our lives, creative approaches to site-design are to be savored. Zoom is presenting regional companies with a fresh, interesting approach to web design. They’re something to enjoy, something to look into.
