Pantone, as in the company that created a precise-colour matching system by which all designers of anything live and dye by, is reaching out to real consumers with the new Pantone Hotel in south central Brussels.
Designed by Belgian interior designer Michel Penneman and Belgian architect Olivier Hannaert, each of the very affordable hotel’s 59 rooms (which range from 85 USD to 185 USD a night) is inspired by different Pantone colour palettes.
Fear not, that doesn’t mean your room will be a riot of vibrant hues; rather it’ll be a predominantly white space with splashes of colour typically via a swatch on the bed, the wall above the bed and the window pane. The rooms’ colour palettes differ by floor with the entire visual spectrum ranging across the seven-storied 1970s building. Photographer Victor Lévy's super-saturated wall-sized images add further individuality with their gritty scenes witnessing the Brussels urban milieu set against backlit panels.
Some of the hotel’s amenities include free WiFi, a lounge, a library full of books on colour and rooftop bar that serve Pantone coloured cocktails and a store where you can buy all sorts of Pantone swag the company has co-created like mugs, bath and body goods, clothes, bags, stationary, bicycles and even folding chairs. As if that wasn’t enough for you for you to spread the Pantone word, there are supposedly some on-site Pantone consultants who can advise you on colour psychology and trends. Belgium has never looked so vibrant.
