BEST HOT CHOCOLATE

Charly’s

A throwback to another era, when evidently the designers were blind and the customers were short-sighted, Charly’s is hardly somewhere you’ll want to spend all day. Don’t let the décor put you off, this tearoom serves a scrumptious hot chocolate for which people travel from far and wide.

BEST FONDUE

Stübli

Ask your foodie friends for the best fondue in Gstaad and they’ll probably tell you to go to the Fromagerie at the Palace Hotel for the champagne and truffle fondue. Chances are they haven’t tried Stübli. So ignore your friends, order the white truffle fondue and thank us later.

BEST FINE DINING

Chesery

Chef Robert Speth arrived in Gstaad in 1984 with the aim of staying for just one season. Almost 30 years later, he’s still there. Nor has his rampant success gone to his head for Speth still greets every diner after their meal is done. Culinary magic costs though, so be prepared to spend heavily.

BEST NIGHTCLUB

GreenGo

Located in the basement of the Palace Hotel, this club has been around for 42 years and is still kicking. It’s such an institution that when the hotel decided to redecorate a couple of years ago, patrons got so up in arms that the management ditched plans to modernise and restored the club to its original glory.

BEST VIEW

Glacier 3000

Take a 20-minute drive from the centre of Gstaad to the Col du Pillon and from there, the swift cable car to the top. If it’s a clear day, you can see a vast swathes of the Alps including the unmistakable outlines of the Matterhorn and Mont-Blanc.

BEST SHOP FOR HER

Antonella

Named after its stylish Italian owner, Antonella can wrap its privileged customers in cashmere from head to toe - from jackets and sweaters to stretch leggings and even ballerina pumps. Looking for something special? Ask to see the Russian Sable furs. To die for. Literally.

BEST SHOP FOR HIM

Lorenz Bach

Gstaaders call it the boutification of their Promenade but with seven stores now under the management of Lorenz Bach, there’s no denying the success of this local retailer. Shelves are filled with some of the hottest brands and trendiest labels as well as clothing under the house label.
