Once upon a time, Burjuman Mall was the place to go in Dubai for high-end shopping. But the opening of the Mall of the Emirates in 2005, and Dubai Mall in 2008, prompted many of the mall's key tenants to head out in search of new pastures.

Credit, then, must be given to Burjuman's management, who re-found the centre's legitimacy: first through the signing of a new anchor tenant, Carrefour, and then via a new multiplex cinema. This past January, however, saw the mall revive its position as a fashion destination, unveiling a new walkway in its southern wing that features a bevy of international brands making their Middle Eastern debuts.

As a result, you can now visit Burjuman and find John Richmond's only boutique outside Milan, the Belgian streetwear label Les Hommes Urban, Thomas Sabo jewellery, Cerruti 1881 and the French shoe label Charles Jourdan, among others.
Dating back to 1991, Burjuman may be one of Dubai's oldest malls, but it is reinventing itself as an out-of-the-ordinary destination once again.
