We are not entirely convinced by the Cybertruck's divisive design, but it is unquestionably daring and dramatic. We just hope owners will not have to incessantly defend their purchase decision. Tesla has promised to begin delivering the truck in 2021, though the question that stands tall is whether the production model will look anything like the concept revealed so far.

The Cybertruck will be offered with one, two or three motors. The top-spec variant, priced at around 70,000 USD, will apparently accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just three seconds. That is faster than a Porsche 911. We will also need to ignore how extraordinarily heavy the truck is, as that is antithetical to electrification, but it is supposedly built around a SpaceX-developed, cold-rolled stainless-steel alloy exoskeleton body that cannot be dented.

Inside and out, the truck is full of clever touches. The rearview mirror is not actually a mirror but a display screen showing a live feed from a high-definition camera at the back; adjust the screen and the camera adjusts with it. There is a modular front light bar and an integrated roof bar, plus a large flatbed with autonomous trailer hitching and a fold-out ramp so a quad bike can be driven straight aboard.
The dashboard is dominated by a 17-inch landscape screen, a first for Tesla, and the cabin seats six across two rows of three. The middle seat in the front folds down into a centre armrest complete with cup holders.
