The Sky's The Limit At The Soaring New Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong

It maybe Ritz-Carlton’s 16th hotel in Asia, but it definitely represents the pinnacle of all the brand’s 75 luxury properties in the world. Owned by one of the premier developers in the city, Sun Hung Kai Properties, the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong is not for those weary of heights since much about the hotel is superlatively elevated, from the lounging areas to the infinity swimming pool. Perched on the very top floors of the International Commerce Centre (from 102 to 118) on the West Kowloon Waterfront, this new hotel dominates the city’s iconic skyline. And it will take you all of 52 seconds to get from the arrival lobby on the 9th floor to the hotel lobby on the 103rd. With 312 guest rooms offering unparalleled, panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and the splendid metropolis below, it is no wonder telescopes are stationed in the suites as a bonus.

In the words of Herver Humler, president and chief operations officer of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, “We are taking luxury to new heights in every sense.” And you can experience just these heights from the sleek and stylish rooftop bar Ozone by indulging in signature cocktails or an exotic selection of Asian tapas and Japanese specialties on the highest al fresco terrace in the world. Should that not be lofty enough for you, the 50 square-meter rooms begin at 6,000 USD a night, and the magnificent 365 square-meter Ritz-Carlton suite will set you back an eye-watering 100,000 USD.

Going from the exterior to inner delights, the hotel’s dining venues have been conceived by some of the biggest names in design working hand in hand with handpicked master chefs. Tin Lung Heen serves refined Cantonese cuisine, specialising in the Hong Kong tradition of Dim Sum. And Tosca caters to Southern Italian tastes in a cutting-edge, open kitchen design. Also don’t miss the Chocolate Library for the highly original duck breast with chocolate balsamic dressing, fondue with chocolate pasta, or the exquisite chocolate tea. You can find more culinary treats in Pastry Gemsin the lobby if you are looking for something lighter and faster.

Adding one more claim to fame, this Ritz also boasts the highest spa in the world. Situated on the 116th floor, it is managed by ESPA, the ultimate urban sanctuary 490 metres above the ground. Inge Moore of the design firm HBA comments, “we were inspired by the idea of ‘being in the clouds’ utilising soft, smooth and natural materials.” With this level of care invested in creating such a celestial experience at the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong, and surrounded with state-of-the-art technology, it promises to be the perfect place for work and play.
