Gentlemen’s clubs may have been around for centuries yet they certainly took some time to arrive on our shores. But now, Capital Club, located in the heart of Dubai’s business district, has opened its doors to those it considers ‘clubbable’. With the aim of attracting the top echelons of business and government, the venue has exceptional meeting, networking and entertainment facilities.
As with any such site, location is key and Capital Club chose the strategic milieu of the near-shore financial hub, DIFC (Dubai International Finance Centre). Set atop the last four floors of a building within the Gate Village, the club houses dining rooms, meeting rooms, club bedrooms, a wellness centre and a dedicated cigar lounge. The plan was to create a welcoming and elegant environment in which to mix, meet, exchange ideas and of course entertain.
This phenomenon may seem outdated, but it has experienced a global renaissance of late and in many ways the model works ideally for the region and particularly Dubai. Serving as a mixed-gender venue, the networking aspect highly desired, the three restaurant offerings are varied and of notable quality and the high-tech meeting facilities are certainly a differentiating factor. Essentially, the grand surroundings provide a home away from home which is always a boon, and with the prospect of a four inexpensive guest bedrooms on offer, power naps are also taken care of.

Membership is by invitation only and although the admitting requirements were not revealed, it is mentioned that each member’s spouse entitled to complimentary membership at the club. The board is made up of some definite big wigs which include such notables as H.R.H Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum (Chairman of Emirates), H.E. Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman (Governor of DIFC), Mr. Saeed Al Fahim (Chairman of Al Fahim Group), and H.E. Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi (Minister for Economy and Planning). With such principal figures of business and government on the board, you can be sure that targets will be surpassed at Capital Club.
