The wedding debut was such a hit with the guests that Abdalla thought other people might be interested too. They were and last summer, she launched a mobile photobooth service under the rubric of Fishfayce.

“It is a concept which, let’s say at an event, wedding, or party, preserves the funniest, most impulsively crazy moments bound only by guests’ imagination,” says Abdalla, adding that the service is as much in demand at corporate events as it is at parties.

The beauty of Fishfayce lies in its simplicity. The guest becomes the photographer and because there’s no one on the other side of the lens, the booth brings out spontaneity and playfulness in a way that photographers cannot. Digitally stored, the pictures can be instantly projected onto a large surface as a continuously updated slide show, or be downloaded and printed as mementos.

Fishfayce’s photo booths have exploded in popularity, popping up at events hosted by companies as diverse as Hermès, Missoni, Mac Cosmetics, Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Adidas, Nokia and Blackberry. Beyond the fun of making faces, the concept’s implications for viral marketing, through tagging and overlaying the photos with brand logos on social media services like Facebook and Twitter, are enormous.

“Thanks to Fishfayce, the photo booth concept is gaining popularity in this part of the world,” adds Abdalla, who is of Sudanese-Iranian origin but had spent most of her life in Canada before settling in Dubai a few years ago. “Fishfayce allows guests to let loose and get creative, providing hours of entertainment and laughs.”

So pucker up, make a face and let Fishfayce do all the rest.
