Something new to this year is a more forward-angled perspective. Considering this issue bridges 2014 and 2015, we thought it only appropriate that we don’t just look back at the past year but we offer you insights into what’s in store as well.

These days, I hear a lot about the carbon footprint and I read that a return flight to Japan creates the same number of air pollutants as driving a sportscar for an entire year. If that’s true, then I hope that we can make amends for the enormous impact we’ve had by compiling this Ultimates because we’ve flown far and wide. Going from Bali to France via the Maldives, you’ll find that there were also tens of articles across our region and a handful in Switzerland. That doesn’t even factor in the three countries I had to visit for a single feature alone, just so I could tie all the threads together. (Hint: check the investigative restaurant piece in the escape section).

I won’t reveal any more of the content in store for you this issue but let me just say that BESPOKE is much more than what you see at face value. It is a labour of love founded on the blood, toil, tears and sweat of our enthusiastic and skilful team. On behalf of all of them, I thank you for sharing our passion. Happy 2015.

Retraction: In the last issue, we incorrectly stated that the Chanel necklace we shot was from their Café Society collection, it is in fact a Franges Swing necklace.
