Tequila

Punta Del Este, Uruguay

Most of the clubs in Punta del Este’s La Barra change ownership every year, making each summer’s hot spot a wild card. The exception: Tequila, which remains magically hip season after season. There’s just a cosy single dance floor with red and black booths but expect a strict door policy, vintage cuts of electronica, Latin rhythms and global beats.

Le Yacht Club

Gustavia, Saint Barthélemy

Le Yacht Club is most absolutely not the blue blazers, pink trousers and weak cocktails at 5pm sort of place the name might imply. Think instead: last glass of Champagne at 4am after a night on the dance floor that didn't begin until sometime after midnight. With a great location (right on the edge of the water) it’s the Caribbean's hottest winter address.

Automat

London, England

A reassuringly exclusive back-door entrance leads you to the ‘secret’ area below the well-known Mayfair American brasserie, Automat. Officially, the club section is currently open for private parties and events and by ‘special invitation’ only. In reality that means there’s a really cool crowd and it’s pretty tricky to get through the door.

King’s Club & Dracula Club

St. Moritz, Switzerland

Badrutt's Palace - the swanky hotel named after the mid-19th century founder of St. Moritz tourism - is home to oldest and sceniest nightspot in town, King's Club. In-the-know night crawlers start off the night here before then heading for the Dracula Club, founded by Brigitte Bardot’s ex-husband and 1960s playboy Gunther Sachs.

Carpe Diem

Hvar, Croatia

The picturesque Adriatic island of Hvar is the longest and the sunniest in Croatia and a popular summer destination for those looking to break the mould. Infamous for its Hvar portside dance locale, Carp Diem has branched out to the inlet-island of Stipanska for a summer DJ-fuelled beach club that rages from June to the end of September.

Reina

Istanbul, Turkey

Reina is less of a club than a vast entertainment emporium that includes several bars, restaurants and dance floors that can accommodate more than 2,500 people. On any given night, you should expect to see lots of Turkish celebs, models, millionaires and media players hitting the vast main dance space pumping out Eastern and European club sounds.

Simachev Bar

Moscow, Russia

Nutty Russian fashion designer Dennis Simachev’s 24-hour bar situated underneath his Collette-like boutique is the most gossiped about bar in Moscow. He has filled the place with eccentric décor think aeroplane ejector seats, old compartment carriages, crystal chandeliers and sinks that turn into tables. The crowd is equally eclectic and cool.

Prive

Mumbai, India

From the onset three years ago, Prive has always aimed to be Mumbai’s chicest nightclub. Thanks to a very tight door policy, extravagant décor (including a private Dom Perignon alcove and tables accessed by stepping over water features) and a premium bottle service, it has not failed. The city’s beautiful and loaded continue to flock there.

Favela

Sydney, Australia

A club located on a seedy Kings Cross back alley with a name that literally means ‘Brazilian slum' doesn’t sound like the most enticing place in the world. But thankfully Favela has all the ingredients for a big night out. There’s a world-class Brazilian barbeque menu downstairs on the open-air terrace, and a nightclub featuring 8,000 golden lights upstairs.

Le Baron

Tokyo, Japan

A rather unlikely yet very successful outpost of the hit Parisian club, Le Baron, can be found in the hush-hush location of Tokyo’s Omotesando. It’s a member's only establishment that has emerged as the darling of the Tokyo scene. The club-revellers don’t arrive till around 1am but they stay till daylight on most weekends.
